Well…Burger Boy is going to have surgery on Thursday –
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Chaps update Lovers….Today we took Chaps into the vet to confirm basically what Grandma and I both knew. He has to have the growth on his neck removed.
Here we are going to the dreaded vet…
He actually will have 3 lumps removed and his teeth cleaned.
Here he is getting weighed. I think it was 72 pounds. He absolutely loves, loves, loves getting on the scale. We praise him like he is winning an Olympic gold metal. When he enters the door the runs for the scale. It is soooooo cute! Look at his face.
Here I am helping to hold my boy. He also got his nails clipped. Please don’t mind my funny look. I think it is nerves.
I am adding this picture because you can kind of see the neck mass that is the biggest problem. I didn’t want to show it full force because it is gnarly. It got worse over the past week.
Tomorrow he goes back to Dr. Leick. We have a bunch of questions regarding his arthritis in his hip area.
Oh dear me.
More not looking forward to Thursday later but it needs to be done….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma ATB
Oh no poor Chappers! Lots of the Alessandro hounds drool And slobber is being sent. I am sure he will do fine and hope this is the end of those dang cysts. Bumper heard about the piggy clipping and he ran to hide. He needs it but he is so bad. Maybe Thursday is a good day for that strawberry daiquiri on my screened porch! Keep us posted.
Hey JBA – Bumper hates his paws touched and we call his toes piggies. Chaps did good on that part. Well Judy, Thursday I will be busy being besides myself. We will have to wait a few more days for our happy hour. I can’t wait!
That’s funny that Chaps loves being weighed. I guess he is proud to show you how much of him there is to love! Sussex and Basset drool coming the Mayor’s way for Thursday.
Might as well get it all done while he’s out. Wow, 3 cysts and teeth cleaning. Get bunches of Rimadyl! The Rimadyl will give him good relief from his arthritis while he’s taking it too. The Doyle hounds will send drool on Thursday. Everything will be just fine.
72 pounds huh? We have a big mayor!
Well, we are getting ready to go visit Dr. Leick for some holistic suggestions for Chaps and his arthritis and guess what???
IT IS THUNDERING AND LIGHTENING! Oh the joys of a phobic hound. It looks like the radar blob is scooting right to the north of us so dog willing we might miss most of it.
Paws crossed…..
me
geez. hope everything goes well..storms, cysts, teeth..happy hour, everything.
my 3 are funny at the vet. lowla who is supposed to the the snappy one climbs in the techs laps & slobbers all over their faces. sally screams as tho she is being killed & buster sits with his head under the chairs so that they can’t see him (yeah right!)
the techs sit on the floor & we just take over the waiting room…it’s free so i just call & give them a heads up & then the circus rolls into town along with any foster i have as well.
I know what you must be feeling, I absolutely hated it when Slinky had her surgery.
Slinky is thinking some treats to send to the Mayor to help him get better.
Yes get the Rimadyl. It works wonders on arthritis. I will be thinking of Chaps and you & grandma on Thursday and praying for a great outcome.
Oh, Cat I hate to hear about Chaps surgery. What kind of mass is on his neck — does the vet think it’s serious, or does it just need to come off. Colby Chaps has several of those lypomas??? I think (just fatty tumors) and one large one on his neck in the same place Chaps has his, but I haven’t had any of them removed. None of them have every opened though. We will be keeping you and our Big Boy in thought and prayer — you definitely don’t need this!!!! I will be loving you through it! Please keep us posted.
