Sebaceous Gland Carcinoma Tumor :(Cancer)
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Chaps Lovers…Well…the news is not good. Chaps vet called today and said that the lab results of the bloody wart like thing was called a sebaceous gland carcinoma and is cancerous. He went on to say that this is an extremely rare cancer but 2 separate pathologist reviewed the mass and reported that this was indeed the rare kind. The report said that it most likely has metastasized.
According to the Internet, this type of tumor is almost unheard of.
I am just not in the right frame of mind to even research it right now. Right now I am just refusing to believe the results.
I just can’t take anymore.
I am mailing the lab work to Dr. Leick tomorrow so he can look at it. We have an appointment with Dr. Doan on Monday to take the stitches out and then Dr. Leick on Tuesday. We are going to start on Chaps storm phobia treatments.
We will keep all of the residents posted.
More crying later…love, Cat, Chaps and Emma ATB

Second opinions never hurt. Try to relax and make it through the weekend–Can’t have Chaps sensing your uneasiness.
I hope they got all of the mass when they removed it.
I will try a check the Internet for you.
Slinging lots of drool your way.
Oh Cat, it is sooooo unfair. I feel so badly for you all. Lots of hugs and prayers go to you, Grandma and Chaps. You are in my thoughts, always.

Thiis so hard to swallow, right now. My heart goes out to Chaps. you and Grandma….Just unbelievable.
Hey, thanks everyone for your kind words. This is just so hard to take. We are still in shock and I am just basically refusing to believe it. This morning we woke up and Chaps side incision looked like it had been leaking blood. He probably bumped it. Anyway, we went off to the vet for a look see and he is fine. We just wanted to be sure.
After the vet we got out to take a few pictures of our yard with the flowers and Chaps (Blog to follow soon) and Chaps took off like a mad man up the street to his favorite pole. It was so sooooooo cute!
We had a nice little stroll and we are back home to get that side incision back in order. Our boy is so delicate.
Again, thanks everyone for your kind works and loving Chaps….
Cat
Oh, our Big Daddy looks so cute by his favorite pole. Cat you are sooooo strong, and we will all love you through this. Just take it one day at a time, Chaps has the Best care and Life imaginable and all that matters right now is today and taking care of that back incision. Love you and Love our Big Boy!
Maureen – all of my replies to your e-mails are bouncing back to me. Thank you for all of the links and research you have done. We really appreciate it. I don’t know why my replies to you are not being delivered. Very strange.
I am soooo sorry. We certainly need some good news in Bassethound town.
Cat, recheck my email address:
maureen_halleran@nylim.com
Maureen – I was just hitting reply as I always do. It is the really weird. Again, thanks for all of your research. I will keep trying your e-mail, but really nothing new. We are just resting and I am making stuffed peppers. Chaps is in his position outside the kitchen watching me.
I totally agree CandB.
Cat,
I haven’t had any other complaints regarding my email. I am going to send you a test email now!
I got it and my reply bounced back. Send me an e-mail to cat@bassethoundtown.com Maybe it is my e-mail, but I am getting mail from both and responding to both. Sorry to everyone else reading this.
Oh, Cat, I am so sorry about this news:( I read this post with a heavy heart. Sending a tsunami of drool for Chaps, and for you and Grandma as you deal with this blow. And The Mayor is in my prayers to St. Francis. Hugs and snooters to Chaps,
Mary, Harley, Biggs and Leo

Oh, Cat. We’re just reading this today. Even one day with the mayor is a blessing. We are so sorry you are going through this. Please hug his mayor-ness for all of us.
How is our big Daddy today? Are his incisions healing? When does he get stitches out? Love you, hugs to himz & you!
Big Daddy is doing great today. His incisions were bleeding last night but that was probably because Dr. Doan squeezed them to see if there was any infection with the blood. They healed back up this morning and he had a good nights sleep and ate a full meal. He gets his stitches out on the 9th or 10th. Dr. Doan wants him to take the full 14 days and I agree with him. Today we are just going to chill and enjoy each others company. I am hosting a summer lunch for himz with grandma as our featured guest. hehehe I will take some pictures and put them on the blog later….Thanks for thinking about our big boy and I know everyone else reading likes the update as well. I have been watching a lot of the Olympics so it has been great for keeping my spirits up. I really enjoy the girls beach volleyball. The mens water polo is very interesting as well. I don’t think those speedos can get much smaller. Has anyone seen that sport?
i too have been doing speedo research (a nasty job but someone must do it!)
i recall many years ago i was hospitalized for my asthma during one odf the summer olympics…i was in my glory. chained to the bed with iv’s & nothing to do but watch non-stop coverage. not a big winter olympic fan but the summer one..oh yeah! every time someone came in there i was glued to the tv!
enjoy the time..do some research…see what happens.
off to buy yet another bag of dog food. yippee.
don’t forget to send me yer stuff!
hi to your luncheon peeps.
Lois – I won’t forget. I hope to accomplish it this weekend. Thank you so much…
No No No- why is it bad luck seems to come all in a rush? Well I am sending you a big basset hug and will think good basset thoughts. When I think of you and your darlings, I think of the lyrics of a song, “I am your heart and you are mine.” Peace to you, Grandma and Darling Chaps. xoxo
