Nash of Hounds Haven Basset Hound Rescue still needs a home…Let’s help him!
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Nash Lovers. Our Nash is still looking for his own home.
Some of you will remember me blogging about Nash awhile back and howl I thought he looked so much like our Emma. I thought that he could even be related but Hound Haven has no idea.
Nash is almost 4 years old and currently is being fostered in Iowa by my friend Karin Smith.
Well – Mr. Nash still needs a home and I want to help by doing another blog. There was a flurry of activity on facebook for a short while but nothing panned out for our boy.
He is in a wonderful foster home with Karin Smith but…he needs himz own home.
Karin states….
“Also a little more info, my houndies are very sweet and they don’t have a mean bone in their short stubby little bodies BUT I have three 2 year old hounds and a 3 year old hound. SO I have a houseful of orneriness and shenanigans, they take each others toys and try to steal treats…..soooo naughty! Poor Nashy he knows they have the upper hand and I am always refereeing. He has started to do the low growl when he senses they are coming near him if he has a toy or treat.”
Karin continues…
“Nash is NOT 100% housebroken. I attribute a lot of this to the fact that his entire world was turned upside down He now does bark at the backdoor but if I miss that he will potty in the house. I really think he used a doggie door, it looks like he is trying to find it when he goes to my back door to get outside.”
“I have clicker trained him. I can’t find the stupid thing half the time and now can replicate the sound well enough that he comes to it.
He must have a fenced in yard. He loves to sunbathe.”
“He walks great on a leash…”
“Nash is my constant shadow and sleeps under my chair when I am on the computer.”
“Himz loves his peeps! LOL! Check him out as he sleeps with a wee bit of his tongue peeking out!”
Please share this information and if you are interested in Nash please go to Hound Haven and review their adoption policy and fill out an application
Hound Haven is willing to consider placing Nash anywhere in the USA if that lucky person and Nash are a fit.
In the basset hound transport community we all know Jess’e Potts.
“She is the most fantastic transport person ever! So long as we can get a good vet reference and find someone who works with rescue to do a home visit he will get himz sweetness just about anywhere we find him a good home”.
I must show you a picture of foster Mom Karin and 2 of her babies! Just Darling…
Karin works tirelessly for Basset Hound Rescue and donates much of her time and art work for the cause. I want to link her Etsy shop so you can take a look around.
Lastly, I would like to say that having a blind hound in your life will change your life for the the better and I quote myself….
“Wisdom does not take sight, it takes vision. Vision can come from many places and mine came from a blind basset hound name Emma, aka Early Morning Misty Air.” –

In Honor and Memory of our Emma…
Hey everyone – if you click the title of this blog posting the link for it will appear in your browser. Then you can drag it into an e-mail and forward it to anyone you thing might be interested. I really, really want to get this guy exposure in the basset hound loving world.
Thanks in advance to all of the residents.
Oh, and please share on facebook and twitter. I have that share option at the bottom of every blog. Someone is looking for this guy to love. I just know it!
Love, Cat and the Divine Miss Emma!
Thanks for the tweet Grandma. I now Nash really appreciates it. I re-tweeted. If anyone knows what a blind hound brings to the family we do!
Come on Bassethoundtown lovers let’s get Nash a loving home he really deserves lots of love. Don’t forget to retweet Cat’s message that is the only way to let people know he is ready to give all his love.
Thank you Grandma.
Good luck Mr. Handsome Nash. If I lived closer, and had the room, I’d love to have him as part of our family. He’ll find a home. He’s a beautiful puppy and they don’t last in rescue very long.
Well, poor Nash has been in rescue for way to long now. Whoever gave him up had some lame excuse and he was passed to his first foster family that was kind enough to take him in but life got in their way and Nash and their senior girl did not mesh. Seniors are set in their ways and you can’t blame either of them. Then Nash was returned to the rescue to find a new foster home. Karin steps up to the plate to help him but she has 4 already all of which are young. Nash just needs his own home. I know he might not be someone’s first pick that is why I am going all out to sing the praises of the disabled.
So…..more about my mission later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma ATB always watching and caring.
I love my new blog header in honor of Nash and in memory of Emma. I want to keep himz front and center and I think we just did that. Good Luck Nash, we are behind, besides and in front of you all the way. Good Boy.
Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma ATB
Hey all Basset Hound Town readers! I am Nash’s foster Mom, Karin. I just wanted to let Cat know just how much HHBR, Nash and I appreciate all her help in finding Mr. Wonderful a new forever home. He is such a sweet, smart, adaptable little guy. I LOVE him to pieces….but he needs his own people that can give him the attention that he craves, loves and deserves without having to compete with the mayhem that is my house. LOL I have 4 “toddlers” that push him to the limit. Nash loves to play and would benefit from being with a fellow 4 legged companion, just not an entire house of 2 and 3 year olds who are full of shenanigans and tomfoolery. I know that the perfect home is out thre for him and with everyone’s help we will find it! It takes a village 🙂

Karin mentioned this song in regards to our Nash. I thought it was so fitting that I had to post it. So cute.
Well, today is 11-19-12. I wanted to update this blog posting about Nash. Chances are that he is related to Emma. Nash was a part of the blind basset colony that HHBR was helping to place. I am just so mad at them for not being honest with me. This is a big, ugly sorted mess and Nash had to suffer first for being blind and second for being a part of a much larger lie.
Dr. Kuehn told me that HHBR is involved with the colony and placing some of it’s members. I was lied to over and over again by this basset hound rescue and it is very sad to me. If you want to keep up with my research please follow this link.

Most information is at the end of the comment section but it sure helps to read the entire page and educate yourself to what is going on. I suggest you do not donate to a rescue like Hound Haven Basset Hound Rescue in Iowa. They are crooks and lie right through their teeth.
