Emma is home and we all are very groggy…

October 3rd, 2008 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Hound and keeping track of Emma lovers:

We are home. Emma was exceptional making her way into our home. She is so awe inspiring. Emma ate a half meal and I was able to give her some pain medicine. She has not moved from the dining room.

This is the side where the prosthetic was removed. As you can see there is some drainage, but her doctor told me not to wipe it away for obvious reasons. Wiping would cause pulling.

Chaps was besides himself because he was behind a gate for a bit. I decided to let him out and he did just fine. The new optivisor allowed him sniff around her a bit more freely. He quickly, took his place laying besides her.

A few friends and family have called but I am not answering the phone. Emma’s vet is calling tonight and I do not have call waiting. (I hate call waiting). So I am waiting by the phone to ask a few questions of her doctor. Her procedure was a bit more complicated than he had hoped for. He has instructed that Emma wear the opitvisor for 14 days instead of 10 days, which she did with the first eye removal.

Everyone at the vet office seemed to really love the optivisor. So far, so great!

More later…. I have to go wait by the phone.

I had to come and see how your sweet girl is after the surgery. I’m so glad she’s home and doing ok. Tons of healing drool is still being flung from over here. Please give Emma a gentle smooch from us.

Cat…..this is so unfair. I won’t go there — you know what I mean. I just hurt soooooo bad for you and our sweet Emma. She has been in my thoughts and prayers all day, we will pray now for a quick recovery — and hope this will be the LAST time she has to endure a surgery like this. Just take it one hour, one day at a time now Cat and you can get her through this next week. Afterall, you have the BEST medicine she can have……Chappers! WE love you, ….I’ll email you on the other side.

Amy, she did sleep really well. She loves being under the covers, so I had her all tucked in. She also slept well the second night.

Thank you so much for asking.

Emily: I know what you mean. Poor Emma had a rough row to hoe. I sure wish her breeder would have helped me through this. With better knowledge I probably could have saved her 2 unnecessary eye surgeries and at the least, 1. I probably even could have prolonged her sight. I know that through my knowledge Emma and I will educate others and in the long run bring some much needed attention to this disease.

    Love Cat and Emma
