The Mayor aka The Teacher’s Pet…Retires from school visits today….
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Teacher’s Pet Lovers…Today the Mayor was booked to read the Lily Book to his favorite school. He has been invited every year since 2006.
With his basket of apples for the teachers we headed out.
I had to snap this picture on the way in. It was bitter sweet. I kind of knew this would be his retirement day.
The kids were pawsome and so well behaved. Chaps was the star he always is.
But now it is time to retire with his stellar Lily Book reading career a thing of remembered beauty. Just like himz.
I was telling the kids today that in human years the Mayor is 84. One of his favorite things to do was reading the Lily Book to kids but I saw a little something today that said he was done.
I love you Chaps. We are going to have a great retirement.
More loving a job well done later…Cat, Chaps and Emma ATB with Lily smiling down…
Chaps has done a wonderful service to all the kids he has visited in the past. He deserves to enjoy his retirement with you and grandma. Congratulations on your retirement Chaps!!
Chaps has been an inspiration, time for him to relax and enjoy everyday , We love you Chaps!
So touching to see Chaps at his last day of school readings he really enjoyed all the kids, but he will enjoy retirement also with lots of loving care.
That group of kids has no idea how monumental their time with Chaps was … such a special opportunity to be at his last appearance.
Thank you Mayor for all you do for your town. We love Mayor Chaps!
Big Daddy you make us soooo proud. I know you have blessed many of kids lifes with your visits!!! Enjoy retirement — you so deserve it! Love you so much!!!
I agree with everyone. Chaps deserves his retirement. It was so cool that he visited the school to tell Lily’s story every year. We’ll let you retire from reading to the school kids but you still have a very important job here at Basset Hound Town.
Yes, Cindy he will continue as the Mayor of Bassethoundtown. There is nothing pressing that can’t be done “tomorrow”;)
I am sure Chaps has such wonderful memories of his school visits. I hate to think of this as his retirement. I know Chaps is tired and getting older, but he looks like he has so much to give.
What cute pictures!!!! You look fabulous! 🙂
