The sisters of destruction and the deer hunter
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and deer hunter lovers (aka Mayor Daisy Lynn)…Well, we had a situation the other morning that started with the purchase of these 2 emerald and gold euonymus that Grandma and I purchased the day before. You see the little ones? Well they were chewed up last year by the deer in our area. My plan was to put the little ones in the back yard and then put the new ones in their place. My dear gardener was coming over the next day.
A May heat wave came through and my air conditioner went on the fritz so the windows were wide open.
Here we have Daisy Lynn enjoying many of the fans I have blowing on her. She was tired from her activities earlier that morning…
So 4:37am the morning of this picture Daisy Lynn heard or smelled or both the sisters of destruction. She went absolute nuts. Screaming on her perch. I bolted out of bed and I see one of the sisters with a big clump of the new euonymus in her mouth just as pretty as you please. I started telling her, “bad deer, no, no, no!” Daisy Lynn runs to the lady’s room and I let her out because she never barks once I let her out. Grandma is at the front window upstairs. She can’t see the deer but I see the other sister, chewing her euonymus cud. I tell Grandma and she said, “They like their salad bar!” LOL!!!

LOL!!! I could just picture this all happening. When Ollie barks at something in the middle of the night we literally bolt from bed. Scares me! He hears the owls or other animals. If deer scram don’t work human hair works. Get some from a barbershop & put it in a nylon & hang on trees.
Oh my! Human hair? I have never heard of that before! That is a great suggestion and I will certainly try it. I hope it works because it would be free and that Scram is not cheap! Thank you Sandy!

Cat, I’ve heard that Irish spring soap hung from tree limbs or bushes at the height of the deer’s head will deter them because they don’t like the scent. It’s a heck of a lot cheaper than spraying mountain lion urine around the perimeter. That stuff is $150.00 a gallon!!I lost all my hosta plants in one evening. They actually ate all 27 of them down to the roots. Then it was too late to do anything about it. GOOD LUCK to you with your beautiful bushes. I just LOVE the color!!!

LOL Sandy, thanks for asking. I have scram, hair and Irish Spring! I dare those deer sisters to eat my new bushes. I think one of the sisters looked pregnant. I hope she does not ween her on my bushes! hehehe
