Chaps and Emma get clean bill of heath!
Howllo Fellow Hound and clean bill of heath lovers!
Well, the vet visit went great today! Of course the kids were a bit freaked out because they can smell “VET” a mile away!
When we walked into the building Dr. Doan came out and greeted us. How sweet was that? He petted Chaps and called him, “Mr. fancy pants”, which stole my heart!
He then turned his attention to Emma and complimented her on her great sense of smell! He was amazed at how well she got around and and how good she was at getting around!
Here is a picture of us waiting in the “room”!
They are smelling each other to see who is the most frightened. Nary a tail up in sight!
Then, Emma found an excape route! Chaps preferred Mommy as his excape route!
Get me out of here Mommy! Please!!!!!!!
Dr. Doan was so sweet and comforting and rubbed Chaps for a long time. I really liked that about him.
Remember, it’s just a well baby visit! The Dr. listened to his overwhelming huge and gracious heart!
Look! The Mayor had his tail tucked in! Poor Mayor! No one could pry that tail up! Emma cried the entire time.
Then it was her turn!
Of course she stole everyone’s heart! Our Emma! Meets every challange and comes through with flying colors!
We really like our new vet! Dr. Doan spent over an hour with us just in a meet and greet!
He did come out as we were checking out and said that Chaps needs to loose a few pounds. My Mom agreed with him. I just looked at the Dr. with a forlorned look in my eye and he said, “The truth hurts”! We all cracked up, except for Chaps. The truth is we all need a diet, and yes, it hurts!
Slurp!
More truth hurting later…….Cat, Chaps and Emma
P.S……..We still went to McDonalds for french fries. This vet is 2 doors down from the greasy wonderland. Just one more reason to switch vets! hehehehe!
Chaps I don’t think you need to lose any weight! You have a pleasantly “thick” figure as I tell my Brutus!
Chaps if you see mom bringing in green beans look out Mayor the famous basset reduction diet will be close behind. Congratulations to you and your sister on the great report from Dr. Doan.
Glad to hear that all came thru with flying colors.
The vet comment about Chaps reminds me of my mom. She had a pug that was, ahmmm, a little round. His annual check up always came in January. One year, the vet told my mom that Pugsley had to lose some weight. My mom, straight face, told the vet “Well, we did just come out of the holidays and all.” I was in the room with her when she said this. All I could do was look at the vet and shrug my shoulders.
Now, in our family, that is the standard response when anyone talks about needing to lose weight. Chaps, feel free to use it next time.
Did the vet say that Chaps needs to take more vacations??????? LOL
Candy
So glad to hear of the good report….and sounds like you have a really nice vet! Oh, and the weight thing — we have all heard that one, but what’s a mother to do (have they really looked into those basset eyes??????? You just can’t resist) AND…..I’m glad you still stopped for fries — Mayor fancy pants and Emma needed something to de-stress them. (shhhhhh we won’t tell the vet)
Glad all went well with the check up!
I agree how can you say no to the hounds?? I mean just one look into their eyes and well…..
I am positive we will hear the same in regards to Beulah lol, I think I may use the excuse of(Well, we did just come out of the holidays and all).
Hugs
Tina, Beulah and Bogart
Becky thinks Chaps is houndsome just as he is ~ but she highly recommend the green bean diet just in case. Becky loves her greenie beanies!! 1/2 cup of the frozen twice a day mixed with less kibble and 1 T plain yogurt! She is ready for swimsuit season!
Great to hear about the good report from Dr. Doan! He sounds like such a great guy!All bassets in the Tri State area need to waddle on over to Dr. Doan for their care!
Love and hugs,
Nin
Hum, Chaps has never been on that diet. I wonder if Emma is allergic to green beans???
I can always try her on a few at a time. I love green beans.
Thanks guys!
Candy that is so funny. I can just see you now sitting in that vet’s office! My sister has a pug that is on a diet! They can really pack it on. My goodness, I can barely life the little guy any more!
hehehe

We are so happy the vet visit went well. Such barootiful kids. Bonnie hates the word diet.
Hugs,

Hey Kip and Gus – Nice to hear from you. I got my HOP support bracelets today. I am wearing one with pride right now. I think mine came off after I took my gloves off. Hopefully someone picked it up and loves it!
Miss you guys!

Audra – don’t you just love Mayor Fancy Pants? I just cannot get over that! I have been calling him that all day! hehehehe
Trisha – I just love Chaps’s thick body. I can just melt every time he walks past me. That body just makes me smile! OK – maybe he can loose about 3 pounds. I will work on it! 3 pounds for him is like 30 for me. Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Dr. Doan and everyone else needs to realize that Chaps does not have to loose any weight; because, Chaps is well-rounded, solid, robust and has presence. Many people I know would kill to have such qualities.
I am a little skeptical about Dr. Doan.
Maureen – he seems like a good guy, but I am not putting all of my eggs in one basket. I never do. He thought that Chaps needed to slim down just a tinch. What he really need is more exercise! Me too! LOL
