Verna is soaking wet!
Howllo Fellow Verna and digging for worm lovers!
I just had to show you guys this picture! It has been pouring rain which is good for worm hunting. Look how wet our Verna is! She rarely sits on the nest any more but today she guarded her flock from the downpour! She is so smart. She built her nest under my back porch roof. The rain was blowing, that is why she is so wet! I just love Moms so much. Nothing is better than a Mom.
Those are her babies right in the front. I think that she likes that I am another pair of watchful eyes on her kids.
More soaking wet robins later (thank dog they don’t smell like soaking wet dogs)………showers predicted for days. Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
Thank dog for good Moms whether they are Robin or Basset Moms.
Hugs,
Kip, Gus, Bonnie and Charlie Bear
Showers predicted for days? YUK! But, they know what to do. Mother nature is so cool. I hope when the babies start learning to fly that something doesn’t happen to them! I always worry about that with little birds.
No wet robins here, but we sure share the wet dog smell with you! Sophie doesn’t really soak through, but Nell’s sussex fur seems to work like a sponge and Nell ends up just drenched. She is afraid of towels and hair dryers, so drying her is a challenge. I got a sham-wow that I wrap around my hand like a mitten and then try to pet/pat her dry. Nell has very sensitive skin, so I can’t let her just “air dry”.
How did she come to be named “Verna”?
Verna – is named after the street I live on. Vernon Lane. hehehe
