Your Daily Paul……….

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Paul in the Pound Lovers!

Well, I have an update and things may be looking up for our Paul. I talked to the manager at the shelter and she said that the owner’s friend called about Paul. It’s all very sketchy and what I could gather through the barking was that Paul might get picked up. She was not quite sure what was going on. OK? I am kind of hoping he does not get picked up because the manager also said that she got an e-mail from a basset hound rescue in Harrison Ohio that would collect him at the end of his 7 day hold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is called Outlaw Basset Hound Rescue!

Huh? Could it be that a new basset hound rescue was dropped in my own back yard? It says on their website,

“Outlaw Basset Rescues’ main facility is located in
Harrison, Ohio on a 5.5 acre farm. Here, the Bassets
relax from their hardships while they receive excellent
medical care and are assessed for adoption. ”

What? They have a FACILITY? OK, I can barely swallow the lump is so big in my throat. Harrison is 45 minutes at best from me. How can this be?

I have a call and e-mail into Rose. I love that name. Is Rose my new best friend?

Ok – I have to go splash cold water on my face.

More shocking revelations later…..Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

Well I’ll be! I guess they’re new? I have a funny feeling that you may not be Rose’s next best friend if you send a lot of basset hounds her way. Ha! This is so cool tho! This will relieve you of having to worry about bassets in that shelter now. Now that the shelter has the rescues info they’ll call them. Sounds like a great place. I think you should truck on out there and check it out and report back your findings to bassethoundtown!

Cat, I just looked at their website and they look very young. I hope they can continue to save hounds for a long time.

Rose is going to be so thankful that you found her in this round about way. It is cool that they have a “facility”. As I’m sure your well aware, most rescues do not have that and rely on foster homes. When foster homes are full, hounds go down. It’s too sad. 5 acres is a lot of land to hold a lot of hounds. But hopefully there won’t be a lot of hounds and they can get adopted out pretty quick. Your such a kind person to offer your help. I KNOW she’ll take you up on that. From the looks of the website they need volunteers. It’s so much fun getting involved and helping out with events. You’ll meet a lot of basset people. Good luck Cat to you and this new rescue! THE OUTLAWS!

Hey!!!!!! I just got off of the phone with Sarah Rose! I had her name wrong. She is so sweet and caring. OK – hold on to your hats, Sarah’s husband is the Mayor of Harrison, OH! Can you imagine the power we will have with 2 Mayors on our team??????

I sure hope that Paul gets to go to Harrison and I can meet Sarah Rose soon. She was telling me that they have their own kennel facility on the farm and a huge part of the 5 acres is fenced in for the comfort of the hounds.

I am just so excited I can barely stand it.

I agree with you Cindy, this is really rare.

Is there anything I can do to help Paul get to Harrison?

What’s going on with sweet Winnie?

How is Our Emma? Has the Mayor calmed down from all of yesterday’s excitement?

Is your house still permiated with the smell of “wet dog” from all the rain?

That is great Cat. A rescue in your backyard. TOOOO Coooooool! I don’t think I want Paul to go back to his owners. They could not even call, a friend had to. Potential big time losers in my book.

Two mayors?! That sounds like a necessary photo opportunity as the two leaders join forces to help the hounds. “Paws across the river” maybe?

    This is very exciting!

Woohoo! I hope that Paul is reunited with his owners as long as they’re a loving home.

Lord knows we need more basset rescues out there, is this one 501c3? I couldn’t find anything on their website that said.

  14. May 1st, 2009 | 9:51 pm

Cindy – I found this on their “contact us” page:

“We appreciate any donations of food, collars, leashes, flea & tick items and bones. Outlaw Basset Rescue is in the process of obtaining our 501C-3 tax exempt status.”

  15. May 1st, 2009 | 9:52 pm

oops, actually that info is on their “flyer” page.

Oh, just had to check in and hear the good news. I don’t think Paul should be returned to his owners either!!!! Can’t wait till you can check this place out Cat, and let us all know.

OneMom – thanks for answering that question. I was offline last night due to thunder storms. Chaps and I were hiding under the covers. Emma was under the covers, but not hiding. hehehe

Sarah Rose and I are going to try to talk on Sunday. I will see how her 501c3 status is coming along. She told me that she is picking up 2 other dogs this weekend.
