Our Paul gets sprung with a spring in his step!
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and new start for Paul lovers: I have Paul all safely tucked into the chicken coop! I will explain that a bit later. Remember how I used the coop reference this morning? I had no idea it would come true! Paul did not fly the coop, he went into the coop! LOL!
When I got to the pound, Paul was waiting outside for me. He was just besides himself with worry. He was pacing and crying. It was so cute, when he saw me he threw back his head and let out a gigantic howl and that tail was going 50 miles an hour. It was such a special moment.
I was actually talking to the woman who is the director and she told me that when Paul’s owner’s friend called they told her that “Money is no object we are rushing down to get “NO NAME” right now.” That was 7 days ago. I am so glad Paul gets a new start in life!
Here he is in my car. When I opened the door he actually flew threw the air like a puppy into the back. He was making sure I was not leaving him behind this time!
Look how worried he still is. Then, Paul was the perfect gentlehound as he sat in the back seat and looked at the window.
I wonder where I am going?

I met Sarah at the Home Depo and followed her to her glorious 1800s farm on 6 acres of beautiful country side. It is so cool! Check out these original barns. Her and her hubby are rehabing the entire place and it is just spectacular.

Hello! Can I be an Outlaw?
Sure looks like Paul is proud to be one! This is Sarah. You don’t find them much sweeter. She also does horse rescue.
See that brown and white guy? Her and her husband picked him up from the slaughter house. All of the others are rescues as well.
They have the coolest old barn for the horses and folks, they don’t make barns like that today. Solid as a rock with Burch beams. This is just the back section of the huge horse barn. The stalls are extra large.
So, back to Paul. Here he is meeting Sarah’s 2 bassets which I promptly forgot their names.
This is so cool. This property has an old chicken coop as all farms did and do for the most part. This building is solid as a rock and is about the size of a 10 run kennel. It is really cool. It has so much character and charm. What I love about it, is that is a low structure that fits bassets perfectly. She has really fixed it up so cute.
The three bassets got along fantastically and for the first time I did not see that huge worry wrinkle on Paul’s head!

Here is a shot from the outside with Paul exploring. It has chicken wire all around the bottom half. Everything was clean as a whistle.
Sarah and her hubby also rescue goats! This guy was my favorite.

Well, it was time to leave Paul in his new Paradise. Like I had mentioned, someone is already interested in Paul from reading my website. Sarah sent them the application today. He is going to go quick because he is a really good hound.
As I pulled out of the ideallic setting I stopped up on the country road and looked back. I could see Paul and the others playing. They were having a good game of, catch me if you can. I did not get a picture but that image will forever be burnt in my brain. (((((((((((Sarah)))))))))))))
It is my absolute pleasure to meet you, your Mom and your darling little daughter. The work you do is of the highest regard. I know we will have many, many stories to share for years to come.

Cat, tears of joy are running down my cheeks. What a happy day. Paul is going to be so happy. I am so happy those idiot owners did not get him. The pictures you took are priceless. Cat, you are priceless!

Wooo Hooo this is Paul’s big day, Thank you so much Cat and Sarah for your endless love, This is the first day of Paul’s new life thanks to you.
I love the setup that Sarah and her Husband have.
I hope that they get lots of Volunteers to help them out with such a noble cause.It just warms my heart to see Paul have a chance at happiness. God Bless his little heart . Cat…..I am reading with tears streaming down my face — tears of joy, especially when you said you stopped and took one look back. I have been there to recently taking that ‘one look back’ while leaving a rescued hound behind. The only thing that makes it easier is knowing he will be in good hands. What a wonderful, beautiful place — I wish we all lived closer because I would love to volunteer there!!! Cat you are our hero and Paul’s hero, just think how great he will sleep tonight (that makes all of us). Sarah….THANK YOU for taking Paul, please keep us posted! We love you cat!!!!1
P.S. I’m a little sad the robins have flown the coop though….but your right — it was meant to be today. Sleep tight.
Oh, Cat – what a bittersweet day you had. First, meeting Sarah and giving Paul a chance for a wonderful new life, and then, seeing your babies fly away.
There is a special place in heaven for you, Cat, as well as for Sarah and all people who save animals from the cruelty of people.
I look forward to hearing more about Paul’s progress.

aul hit the jackpot today that is for sure. How wonderful his life will be from here on out. Cat you are a true angel for wayward & homeless bassets. Thank u so much for caring and helping. I wish I lived closer so I could volunteer.
I couldn’t wait to get up this morning and ready this blog. Unfortunately I checked until I went to bed and for some reason I didn’t see the update. Anyway, I too am sitting here with a tear running down my cheek. It’s a happy tear. I’m soooo glad that you found the Outlaw rescue and got to visit and most of all that Paul is saved! What a fabulous place! I wish all rescues could have a “facility” like that. Your the best Cat. I’m so happy for Chaps that he gets his yard back! There are 4 new robins flying in the air today and it wouldn’t have happened without your help to protect them. So, on we go to the next chapter!

So glad to read that Paul has a happy ending in his life, and that he will be loved and cared for. I am so glad his previous owners didn’t collect him. They don’t deserve and wonderful Basset like Paul.

Thanks everyone for the nice compliments. It is such a joy to come full circle with a rescue. Well, I guess full circle would be a forever home, but for me to get him away from his dud owners was a victory.
It was really fun yesterday to meet Sarah. I love that farm. I hope to visit from time to time.
Paul was a very deserving hound, just like all of them. They don’t have a bad bone in their bodies.

Hi Leslie! It is so nice to hear from you. Sarah told my you e-mailed her. She thought that was so nice. She is such a sweet gal and I am thrilled to meet someone close enough to visit and help with the hands on stuff. She told me today that she already has a 15 hound waiting list. The hounds just keep coming and coming. A Father and son wound up in Boone County Shelter today. Very nice pair. I will blog about them later.
