Poor Element, aka BHV (basset hauling vehicle)….

May 6th, 2009 - 4:04 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Basset Hauling Vehicle Lovers: I say poor Element (who is actually named Sherman) because at our last visit for Emma’s back surgery update my magnetic door signs were stolen.

I just loved them because everyone would smile at me when they passed buy. I always felt they were a calming influence on the road.

Anyway, I guess rather than being sad or upset, I found it quit funny. I found myself hoping that who ever stole them would put them in a kids room at least.

Today my graphic designer came over and she set up some files for new and improved signs. I want to have 3 sets to choose from.

I have changed this one around a bit. This is the first set.

This is the second set……..

And this is the third set…..

chapsbw

They all are the size of the door. Totally HUGE – just like the hounds we all know and love.

More smiles on the road later………..Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

I sure would smile if you passed by me on the road. The thiefs did have good taste though.

I don’t know how you could ever decide. Selecting favorite pictures of Bassets would take the wisdom of Solomon in my opinion.

Cat, what did Our Emma and Mayor Chaps think of the question I submitted a few days ago? I hoped you would post it, and we could see how people really feel about their Bassets.

What kind of a low-life would steal those signs? What would you do if you happend to be driving next to a car wearing your stolen signs? I can see it now, Cat flooring it – ponytail flying – the two hounds howling with the heads out the windows, ears straight back from their heads. LOL

I like your new signs better anyway. SIGH!!

How funny would it be to pull up alongside a car at a stoplight, glance over and be greeted with that sweet face staring at you?!?

    They are all great, though!

People really will steal anything, won’t they?

Love and hugs to our healing girl and to Chaps, too!! (and Cat, our heroine)

I am going to have them all. I cannot decide. I need them all. I can switch them out. I just got the quote and it is only about 150.00 for all of them. The first $ I have spent in forever! I am so jazzed!

Good choice Cat! I liked them all too. I have a question tho. Did Lilly really have that heart shaped mark on her side? I’ve always wondered that.

  7. May 6th, 2009 | 6:41 pm

Well, we are especially partial to the picture of the Mayor (such a handsome gent), but I have to agree with you that there’s no way to decide! Good idea to get all three! I’d follow you anywhere with those signs!

Cindy – I’ve always wondered that too (about Lily’s heart shape), but since I’m to to town I felt silly asking. 😉

Lily had a heart shape on her side but for the purpose of the book I had it graphically designed more perfect. It was just like all of the pages.

That was the concept of the book. Graphic design to fit the fantasy.

You would not believe how many hearts are in this book. I know the number. Do you? hehehehe

I could give Hannah the task to count them, she’d probably love that.

Do you have a picture of Lily with her natural heart shape?

Hey OneMom I haven’t been around too long either but it was just killing me to know. I lurked for about a year before I made any remarks just to figure out what bassethoundtown was all about. Once I figured out what a fabulous place it was I decided to start chiming in. I mean, you can’t go wrong being part of a town with Chaps as the Mayor! We don’t have near the problems that other towns have. Ha! So, how many hearts does the book have? I don’t have one to count! But let me guess…37?

Kerry – the hearts in the book are very noticeable. However, you asked for the real heart on Lily. It was right there on her shoulder. I moved it down to her mid section for the book. OMG – how wonderful is she?

  12. May 6th, 2009 | 7:16 pm

Is that Lily with her heart in OneMom’s comment? If so, I see it! It’s not perfect but definitely there. It’s funny how we notice all these type things with our hounds. When Jethro was little he had a black paw looking inprint on the bottom of his front paw. It was mostly pink except for that black paw. I wish I would have taken a picture of it when he was young cuz now the bottom of his paw is mostly black and with how they get all callosued and stuff you can’t see it unless you know it’s there. I used to tell him “Jethro, you have a paw on your paw”.

Maxine had a “rough heart shape” right on top of her head. My mom always referred to it as a “kiss spot” from Max’s mom “Mama Precious” was her name.

We are funny about our hounds, aren’t we?

  14. May 6th, 2009 | 7:53 pm

Wow. Which sign to decide. The Chaps and Emma ones a beautiful.

  15. May 6th, 2009 | 9:00 pm

The signs are fun! Maybe we should get them all!

    Yes!

  16. May 7th, 2009 | 9:27 am

You rock Cat. Get all 3 and wow ky with your changing bassets.

Go with all THREE, Cat, they are too lovely to choose just one! It surely would make me smile to see these signs on a car! A few years ago Philip made two wood “Basset X-ing” signs and painted them neon yellow and put them on either side of Rt. 100, one going, one coming, with our house in between. A while went by when I noticed someone had stolen one!! The NOIVE! Sheesh…Collector’s items, I guess;)

Kerry – I was looking for the heart number and I cannot find it. I know I have it. I will let you know but Hannah can start counting at any time. I think my designer has a copy of the number as well. At one point I was going to do a game on my website about it.

I really like the first set. Lily looks really cute sniffing the flower.

I know that the vote is in but I think you should “wrap” your car with all sorts of pics about BHT or better yet just turn the Element into a great big Basset!!!

Nin – you are so funny. That would be really cool to “wrap” the element to look like a basset. Maybe some day! For now I think I might be able to afford all three choices. I love the all too much to pick one!

I cannot wait to take pictures of them!

    Miss you
