Elvis Smith – departs for the rainbow bridge
ELVIS SMITH 6-19-91 – 11-24-07
Howllo Fellow Hound and Sr. Hound Lovers: This Thanksgiving most of us celebrated good food and family fun.
Devon and Todd Smith had planned on doing the same, but instead they suffered the loss of their dear, dear Sr. Hound Elvis. Devon and Todd had family by their side when Elvis suffered a stoke.
Elvis was Devon’s first basset and she had him since he was a pup. Elvis became famous via this picture. That is Elvis on the left, the distinguished black coated gentleman. The word gentleman fits him to a tee, he actually defined the word. Devon states, “He was the most stubborn dog I ever knew, but also the biggest lover.”
Elvis suffered a stroke on Thanksgiving Day and Devon and Todd were by his side every paw step of the way. His rainbow bridge trip on 11-24-07 was guided by his surrounding humans and canines that loved him.

Elvis is survived by his Mom and Dad, CoCo, Cha Cha, and Beauty Smith.

Rest in PEACE sweet boy.
You were a true champion of Sr. Hounds just like your Mom and Dad, Devon and Todd.
You will never be forgotten as long as I live.
Your memory will live on and on in the Sr. Fund Raising Project that your Mommy is working on.
What a great way to remember a special hound. We love you Elvis
You are a Champion!

Dear Devon and Todd.
I am so sad for you. The death of an older hound like Elvis is in my opinion harder. I lost my 10 year old hound last month. I still cannot get over it. I love bassethoundtown. I found it because of you and your Dream. I am here everyday. Thank DOG! Devon and Todd = Hope for old hounds!

Devon,
Our sincerest condolences for the loss of dear Elvis. We are animal lovers so we know how special he was to you, especially since he was your first basset baby. We only had the pleasure of meeting him once, but he was adorable, as are all of your “kids”. Please keep his memory alive with the wonderful work you are doing on behalf of all bassets. We love you and are thinking of you.
Dear Devon and Todd,
I am so very sorry to hear about your loss. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely, Lisa, Tom, Brandon and Chico
I am so so sorry Devon and Todd! I’m sure you miss him like crazy, but Elvis misses you too! I lost my love a few months ago too, and I understand the pain you are going through, but my girl and your boy are probably playing together in heaven. =)
Love,
Lisa

I’m sorry to hear about Elvis leaving us for the bridge. He was a fine hound and I always enjoyed it when I was able to visit with him. He was a cool dude!
Todd and I just wanted to thank everyone here on bassethoundtown for their kind words and for honoring our senior hound Elvis. It means more to us than you will ever know. Cat, we love you…you are an angel.
Love, Todd, Devon, Coco, Cha Cha, Beauty..our senior hounds and their fat tabby cats Tiger & Hula.
I feel so bad for Devon and Todd, My candle will be lit for Elvis. I’m sure that another Elvis will
show him around the rainbow Bridge and God’s golden Halls. He will also rest at God’s feet. Hugs, Ken,Lemon Drop & Buster.
Dear Devon and Todd. When Lily and Chloe passed I found a quote I loved.
I cannot place my hand on the quote, but it goes something like this.
Dogs have life spans that are much shorter than ours. If they lived any longer it would make it that much harder for their human lovers to endure their passing. It is just God’s way of helping us through their untimely departure.
I will try to find the quote. However, this was the feel of it.
Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
RIP, Elvis
