What do you think about this old picture of Grandpa?
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Olden Time Picture lovers: Well, yesterday when I was looking for a picture of our family at a National park I stumbled upon this picture of Grandpa as a boy. Nothing too special, just a kid clowning around at first glance. Then I showed it to Grandpa and asked him about it. He pointed out what I did not see. A puppy…
He was on his way back from the general store and had his bibbed overalls stuffed with what he was sent for. As he turned the corner, in his path was a puppy. Ever being the dog lover, Grandpa ditched his bike so as not to hit the young pup. When I first saw this picture I did not even see the pup. Grandpa had to point it out to me. As we looked closer the pup appeared to be a basset hound? Could it be? It looks like Emma!!!! Grandpa could not remember but agreed that it looked like Emma!
It kind of freaked me out! Look at how Grandpa is smiling at the pup after he basically hit the dirt!
He thinks that he was almost to the campsite and that is why someone had a camera. My Dad was a huge photographer from a very early age. So, could it be? That this connection of my Dad reaching for a hound is a connection that he passed on to me?
Oh it just makes me smile. We think he is about 12ish in this picture. He cannot remember much about it.
This small grainy photo means the world to me. I took pictures of the picture so I could show my dear readers more detail.
More wondering about the Emma look a like later….What do you think? Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
You know, I can see Julian in that pic of your dad! Maybe Emma and your dad had met before . . . . we always say that Emma is an angel.
Wow Candace – I never saw that until you pointed it out. Maybe Emma is the forever hound. I love that!
Cat
I love your picture. Give Grandpa and Emma a big hug, it is so wild to see her in the photo. For to me it looks like her too.
Wow! It does look like Emma! How weird! I do think it was a connection.
I think this shows that saving Basset Hounds is in your family genes.
These photos are quite well preserved.
Thanks for sharing.
