Chaps gets an A+ from the teacher!
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and A+ lovers! Our boy did so good today. True to form he marched into school with a spring in his step, ears flying!
Here is the Mayor waiting not so patiently at the door to be buzzed in!
Then it was right to the back packs that lined the floor. He was sure he smelled something really good! (See the Lily Book?)
Off we go to the Mayor’s stage of stardom! Ears still flying. He could not go fast enough. Look at Grandma trying to keep up with him!
This is where Chaps feels right at home! Center Stage! LOL – Of course Grandma wants to make sure he does not venture off of the stage! hehe
Next the kids filter in and a fun time is had by all. I would have to say that Chaps was one of the kids that had the most fun!
He sat right in front of me the entire time and the teachers were amazed with him. My goodness, he is such a natural!
We had so much fun and the Lily book was a hit. I have to tell you guys that I get there early when all the Moms are bringing in the kids in the mini vans. They all wait in a line to drop off their child. I walk Chaps right in the grassy area next to the drop off line and as cold as it was today, I have about 50 kids hanging out of car windows cheering and clapping. It was so cute.
Wow, Chaps was born for this. I need to get him and Emma to more schools.
More spot light news later….Cat, Chaps and Emma
I know our mayor had a wonderful time. Can’t wait to here how much the kids love our Emma.
I love to read these updates when Chaps visits school. He and Emma certainly take their public service seriously. I bet there was alot of “Chaps talk” around those kid’s dinner table tonite.
You guys are the best!
These are my favorite stories too. I sure wish we had something like this when I was growing up. It’s so cool that this school lets you do this. It’s like a stay at school field trip. Chaps ROCKS! And Emma will too!
what fun!!!! i really love doing the programs in the schools…i bet mr mayor does too!!!
buster & mr cooper get to go the my friends pre school and visit but i don’t bring them inside…we hang out by the playground…buster sings and they both get lots of pets….
cooper would LOVE to be inside playing…he has such the tolerance for the kids…buster not so much.
i do the “sally goes to the vet” by stephen huneck for all the classes (okay 2.5 thru 4.5-5) and then we break out our stuffed animals and practice bandaging and such and talk about animal safety and stuff…everyone dons dr masks and such as well…there is gauze everywhere and scooby doo bandaids… followed by scooby doo snacks…
it the 3rd year i’ve done it at the school. every summer. this fall i did a smokey bear fire safety day too complete with a smokey bear puppet and my old park service stetson .
the kids love it…they all know the dogs now…they know what type of dog they have and basset hounds!
last week i stopped by the school to drop off some food for the food drive they have and they saw my big van and all the kids started yelling “miss lois’s van is here! miss lois’s van is here! buster’s here! yeah!!!!”
i read a few of the other “sally ” stories to them and then we do a game or two and i torment them for a while..fun for me and them.
it was pretty funny tho to hear the whole herd of little kids screaming that they recognized my big ygly van (altho honestly once you have seen it you will always recognize it)
Ah, the busy agenda of a Public Official. Truly the people love their Mayor (that’s why he keeps getting re-elected!).
I love the picture of him on the stage – while his doting assistant is tending to the details, he pauses (pawses?) and considers his responsibility to the people.
Thank you Mr. Mayor for your service. I only wish that Hannah-Bear Elementary school was in BHT!
Did the Mayor get French Fries for being such a wonderful Offical?
Yes, yes, the Mayor got french fries and an all beef patty because Emma was not with us. We brought her fries home and a tiny taste of an all beef patty!
Life is good in the hood! hehe
It is wonderful that Chaps got to go to school. I do not know if Bumper and Abby would pass or fail on behavior but they sure would get lots of pets. Keep up the good work because I know Chaps loves it as much as the kids do.
I am so envious. I don’t see why Chaps, Grandma and You should have all the fun. I want to come too.
Nothing could ever beat such a stately, noble, Basset such as Mayor Chaps for “Show and Tell”
Seriously, Cat you and your family do so much to improve the quality of life for everyone.
