Abbey and Shakespeare visit Mount Vernon
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Mount Vernon Lovers: I ran across this blog posting on a photography site called, Paw Prints Photography
I love the pictures and the folks that run this business are in VA. After viewing Abbey and Shakespeare I now really want to go to Mount Vernon, the house where George Washington lived. It looks totally pawsome and fun. I am going to certainly put this place on my list for future travel with Chaps and Emma .
The photo blog states,
“Interestingly enough, we found historical reference that Lafayette brought Basset Hounds to George Washington as a gift. Mount Vernon allows dogs and is a great place to visit with your best friends. (Leashes are required, and Abbey and Shakespeare were on leash the whole time – any images sans leashes were removed in Photoshop”
Wow, howl much fun was that photo show? It would be really fun if we could all meet at Mount Vernon at some point. Taking bassets back to their American roots!
Special thanks to Paw Prints Photography for gracing Bassethoundtown.
More dreaming of our roots later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma
That is awsome! Oh, what a dream come true it would be to travel with my bassets and be allowed to see history with my pups by my side.
Cat, I hope you plan on sharing that basset friendly travel list cuz I plan on asking for some ideas if I ever get to travel.
I love the pictures, especially the Bassets in the chairs on the veranda. How stately can you get?
When Slinky and I come to Basset Hound Town, we definitely want to visit and sit on the Lily and Chloe bench in Basset Hound Town.
Great photography! Yes, I would say quite fitting that the bassets are in Mt. Vernon, given the connection between them and George!
Mary, Harley, Biggs and Leo
road trip!!!!
they are also allowed to wander thru colonial williamsburg too..just not in any buildings…it can be difficult because of the crowds and the cannons firing but fun to walk thru & explore as well as many national parks (check before visiting some do not permit them on trails!)
i take my guys almost everywhere….
buster & coop have done gettysburg, valley forge, white mountain nat’l forest, philly, antietem, washington dc some PA, NJ, NH, VT state parks, manassas, the board waddle, trout parades etc…
Wow! Sounds like I need to get with Lois! I knew about the state parks and that would be a good way to travel if you have a travel trailer. Economical too! I want to get a travel trailer and stay in state parks when we travel.
Wow! The look like they were having a royal time. I remember when I got adopted by my first basset Paddington Bear I looked up the history. I thought it was really pawsome that the first Prez. had bassets too.
