Rudolph makes his way to the rainbow bridge today:(

April 1st, 2008 - 3:03 pm KY Time

Howllo fellow hound and Rudolph lovers: Our big red boy made his way to the rainbow bridge today after a sudden onset of grand mal seizures. Many of you will remember Rudolph as one of the Seniors that my Mom and I picked up from the Campbell County, KY high kill pound. A wonderful woman named Chris paid for their boarding costs until we could transport them to the House of Puddles. Rudolph soon came to live as a foster from the HOP with Gail at the Farm. Gail states,

“I just received a phone call from the vets office. She had called Marilyn first and told her that it didn’t look like the medication was going to help him any. He had started coming out of the sedative and looked to be going back into another seizure. Before the vet could contact me, Rudolph went to the bridge on his own.

I am going to go pick him up and take him to the funeral home to be cremated. He will come back home and be buried in the flower bed outside where he use to love to lay these past warm days we have been having.”

Marilyn states, “The vet thought it could very likely be a result of the heartworms, causing a blood clot in his brain. I am so deeply grateful to Gail for giving Rudolph the very best last 3 months of his life that he could have had. He knew he was loved. Rest in peace, dear Rudolph.”

Here is a YouTube video I made of both boys’ journey to the HOP!

Yesterday, Marilyn sent me a few items from her Cafepress store as a thank you for all of the fund-raising efforts I have made for the HOP. Both items featured Rudolph, who she knew I cherished. Here are pictures of the items which I will treasure forever.

Marilyn has a Cafepress Store and you can purchase these items as well. If you purchase a Rudolph pillow, it will help to defray his medical costs which were exhorbanent. Here is the link to the pillow:

Here is the link to the “tote”lly cool tote:
RUDOLPH AND HERMEY TOTE

It is a just a suggestion, but buying any of these items will help defray the vet costs for our dearly departed Rudolph. He only knew joy for 3 months of his 12 years and those were the ones at Gail’s farm with her and her family. They loved and fostered Rudolph for Marilyn at the
House of Puddles.

Oh, how I loved that boy…………….

We rescued Rudolph from a high kill shelter in KY. Rudolph had 4 months of love that he never knew. He was set to be put down the morning my Mom and I rushed to get him and Hermey. Rudolph got to chase chickens, eat ribs and have a family for 4 months, something he never knew. His buddy Hermey was a winner as well. Living large at the HOP with his new girl friend Lavene.

Rudolph will be missed, but he taught us all a lesson. Life may be long but moments are short. We love you dear red boy!

First Max then Lucien and now Rudolph. This has been the worst month ever. 🙁 I feel so blessed to have known and loved them all though. And I’m so glad I had a small paw in helping Rudolph get to his forever home.

I loved that big, red beautiful boy. I wish I could have kept him at HOP but the aggression issues he had with a few of the other hounds was too great. Now we know there might have been something wrong all along causing the aggression that culminated in the seizures. When he was feeling well and happy, he was the sweetest boy in the world. All he wanted was to be loved, as they all do. I will miss our dear Rudolph.
