Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Town Lovers…..
Today Grandma and I had a hard day. Wrapping up a life is very difficult as many of you know. One of the hardest things I had to do today was to cancel Grandpas Wall Street Journal subscription. I have subscribed to this for him for over a decade. The woman I spoke with at the WSJ was simply a joy to behold. I told her that the WSJ defined my Dad and howl something as simple as this phone call was very difficult on me. Tomorrow will be his last paper and I am going to save it.
So, when I got home and saw a package at my door step it made me smile. There was a balloon attached…
I am keeping it in my kitchen as you can see.
There was a gift card from some of my dear friends of Bassethoundtown for 50.00 dollars to Julian’s and mine favorite Pizza place, LaRosas. OMG we love that place. It is kind of a steamy, loud Italian joint that is so hustle and bustle. I am going to take him and Grandma the next time he is over in honor of Grandpa. I am really looking forward to that.
Not to be forgotten, God Forbid! The kids! Judy was so sweet and made them some cookies.
I thought that Chaps and Emma would attack Grandma when she got them each a cookie. It was like total mayhem.
Oh, and the kids loved their toys. They have played with them all day. Pure joy!!!!!!
The goodie bag made our day. We cannot thank everyone enough. Cindy, we know that you were the one who got all of this together and you are so sweet to do that. Judy helped with the mission! All the folks that chipped in for the gifts I cannot thank you enough.

Judy did just fabulous! If I ever make it to Ft. Thomas KY I’ve got to stop by and give Judy a big hug.
I’m so glad to hear that Chaps and Emma are enjoying their new toys and those scrumptious home made treats. BHT had to take care of the hounds ya know. They have feelings too.

Cindy you are so sweet! We had the most fun today with that package. Judy was an angel for working with me. I was too sad to even answer the door for her. I did not hear the bell but even if I did I could not have gone to the door. I was a shell of my former self.
The gift was a GOD send. Thank you every one.

I am so glad to hear the goodies arrived at just the right moment … that is such a great idea to have dinner in honor of Grandpa. I was chatting with Sophie and Nell this morning and we have decided to grant Judy a new title “Ambassador to BHT”! (Thanks to Cindy too for getting us organized).
Glad the toys for the kids were a hit … I know the Mayor has been on duty a lot this week.
We continue to pray for you and Grandma and loving all of you from here.
We understand what your going through Cat. When I lost my Dad I had the weirdest feeling. He was gone. Just gone. I felt so empty. When I went to the funeral home for the wake and I walked up to his casket, he wasn’t there. There was a “shell” there but he was gone. It was so weird. After that, I wouldn’t go look in the casket again because to me, there was nothing there. I just went and sat down and talked to him in prayer. So, I completely understand.
Don’t forget to give Chaps and Emma a cookie this morning! It will help their stress level I’m sure. Right Chaps?
Cat, I can’t promise you a date but one day I’m definitely going to make my way to Basset Hound Town. Hounds and all! I can just feel the soft fur and sweet kisses I’ll get from Emma. And of course the mayor too!
