Cookies and Cash what a yummy combination, especially for the House of Puddles!!

August 20th, 2013 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Cookies and Cash Lovers!  Today was a big day in bassethoundtown! Two of our very own residents, Marsie Hall Newbold (of Marsie’s Menagerie)  and Nosey had a big surprise for the residents!

So the Mayor Daisy Lynn and I got all dolled up and headed out to meet Marsie and Nosey…

CookiesnCash1

I must show a close up of our outfits!

Look at the scarf that Grandma gave Daisy Lynn!  It is covered in daisies!  Just darling!

CookiesnCash2

We arrived at a small cafe in Cincinnati called Lookout Joe.

And lookout we did!

LQQK!

They sell Marsie’s dog cookies for charity.

It’s a check that manager Olivia is holding made out to bassethoundtown!

Marsie donated the sales of her dog cookies to bassethoundtown!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

It’s a whopping $390.00 dollars!  That’s a lot of cookies being loved by a lot of dogs!

Mayor Daisy Lynn Rudert has made her very first executive decision for our town and she has decided to turn the entire check amount over to HOUSE OF PUDDLES!

The executive counsel is in full agreement!

CookiesnCash4

I would say the Mayor Daisy Lynn is lucky to have her very first major decision be such a yummy one!

hopraffle

Yes, it is that time of the year again and the House of Puddles has one of their famous raffles going. The Spring Raffle ends tomorrow, Friday the 13th so get lucky and buy some tickets before it is too late!

Well, does anyone remember when my Mom and I went to the BHCA Nationals back in October?  If you do, you also recall we hosted a HOP booth where 100% of all money made went to the elders.

Not everything sold so we asked Marilyn if we could put together a collection of things for her Spring Raffle.  There is some really cool stuff as you can see!

photo 3_3

2 Vintage Basset Hound Club of America trophy plates, Wooden Basset Hound puzzle, 3 Clay hand made basset hounds, 4 Basset hound ceramic figurines, Ceramic Basset Hound ball of twine holder, Ty Beanie Basset Baby, an assortment of vintage Buglers (the Basset Hound Magazine) from the 90s, vintage book “Care of the Brood Bitch and Whelping”, hose attachment, 2 medium size T-Shirts and a “HopPers Rule” cap from Stitchable, Devon’s Dream necklace and a signed, limited edition basset hound print by Anne Lind.

This particular raffle collection will be shipped from Bassethoundtown.  If you win this collection and e-mail me telling me of your good fortune and I will increase it further.  There will be an extra special item enclosed in your shipping package……(no not Emma) hehehe

So, go buy some tickets and make sure to put some in #4 Basset Lover Gifts Collection.

Good Luck and happy Spring Roll…..

More loving an extra special item later…..Cat, Chaps and Emma

PS….I would value the collection at around 200.00.  The vintage basset that holds the ball of twine is very rare.

Who remembers Rudolph?

February 6th, 2012 - 11:11 pm KY Time

Hollow Fellow Basset Hound and Rudolph Lovers…Does anyone remember Rudolph?  He was the guy my Mom and I picked up from the pound back in 2007, along with Hermy and helped transport to HOP. Here we are at my vet office.

IMG_2521

Darling Rudolph is ATB now but enjoyed his final days being kissed and loved.  Hermey is still at HOP!

I just thought I would share this memory.  Gosh I loved both of them.

Lucy arrives at House of Puddles!

October 15th, 2011 - 10:10 pm KY Time
Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and new HoPper lovers.  Please, let us welcome…LUCY!
THIS MESSAGE JUST IN FROM MARILYN OF HOP!
“Happy Gotchaday, Lucy! I picked her up a few hours ago in Chambersburg, PA. I think she’s pretty tuckered out from her long ride from Columbus, OH. She explored, ate, explored some more, and finally settled down. She’s a blue basset and has lost most of the hair in her gray areas. But I’ve put her on melatonin and hope it will eventually grow back. Cricket, also a blue, lost all her gray hair, too, but it finally grew back. I’m thinking it might be an annual thing for blues.  She’s really sweet and doesn’t seem to be traumatized by the other 20.

In case you didn’t see her story, some guy supposedly rescued her from an abusive situation and put her on Craig’s list.  That’s how the lady I got her from found her.  She only had her 3 months, couldn’t afford vet care for her and didn’t even have her on heartworm preventative.  When Lucy started peeing all over her house, her husband wanted to take her to the pound. The lady contacted Ohio basset rescue but they didn’t respond so she contacted me.  I had her sign Lucy over to HOP and drop her off at Jessica Dworkin’s vet in Columbus on Wednesday, then someone fostered her until the transport. Lucy’s got a UTI, infected ears and horrible teeth, but she was HW negative.  I’ll have a dental done with my vet in a couple of weeks when she’ll get a recheck on the UTI and ears.

Getting ready for the Nationals!

September 27th, 2011 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllow Fellow Basset Hound and getting ready for the Nationals Lovers!  Grandma and I have been getting ready for our booths for months but for the last few weeks we have shifted into 4th gear!  We worked on our House of Puddles sign today.

Of course we need a sign for the HOP table!

Look at this pawsome accomplishment!  hehehe

IMG_4347

It is actually nice and big and yellow!  Guess why we picked yellow for the poster board!  LOL

Also, yesterday bassethoundtown received an incredible donation from the wonderful artist Karen McDonough.  Remember?  She recently painted Chaps and Emma.

Karen painted and donated her masterpiece of one of the Hoppers to the HOP Nationals table!  This is Max…..

Maxpainting

HERE IS THE PAWSOME PAINTING! KAREN YOU DID A WONDERFUL JOB.  LOOK AT THOSE EYES!

IMG_4357

Max will be for sale at the upcoming Nationals and will be showcased in 6 short days!

BEAUTIFUL!  Please come shop the HOP table!

Of course bassethoundtown’s booth will be right next door!  For once I can pick my neighbor!

Are you attending?

Thanks you again and again Karen!

More showcasing later….Love, Cat, Chaps and Emma

House of Puddles is a winner! YES! – Slurp!

August 9th, 2011 - 7:07 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and the elders at the Hop being winners lovers!  What a nice thing to hear this hot summer day!

banner

Well, it all started off with a post on the daily drool that went something like this…..

The Editor and Publisher of  Bugler, The Basset Hound Magazine (Riche Churchill) posted that she has some nice basset hound items that she was willing to donate to a rescue that would be present at the Basset Hound Club of America Nationals this October 2011, however, someone heading to the Nationals would have to pick up her package and deliver it to whatever rescue told her they wanted it FIRST!

ZIP, ZIP, ZIP….I was sitting at my computer (surprise, surprise) when the daily drool e-mail dinged on my laptop!  I scanned the line up of topics and went right to the Riche Churchill’s post which looked very interesting INDEED!

ZIP, ZIP, ZIP – I ZIPPED off an e-mail and informed Riche that I wanted those items for
House of Puddles if she could get someone to pick them up and deliver them to me at the Nationals!

Guess who was firstie firsterson?  Me, me, me!  Hehehehehe!

Riche then sends me this e-mail….

“Someone in vicinity of Nashville, has offered to pick up & deliver items to Natls. I will tell him to find the HOP booth or ask for you?

Others have expressed interest, but you were the first, so you win. There isn’t all that much stuff — but one item is the only one in the world — a Basset holding a tennis racquet that was made especially for me by Judy Helferrich (ClanzooAnimals) about 15 years ago after I fell and broke my shoulder while playing. The statue has a little band-aid on its shoulder. Her statues are adorable, anyway……Riche Churchill….”

Right now Chaps, Emma and I are doing the HAPPY DANCE!  I am so excited for the elders at HOP!

I am going to host a table for House of Puddles at the BHCA opening night welcome party.  I am sure there will be many tables of rescues and basset hound clubs. I am so looking forward to this!

I am also going to be hosting a table for House of Puddles the entire week of the 2011 Nationals along with a Bassethoundtown.com table.  100% of every item designated and sold for HOP will go to HOP!  100%!

I am so excited about the Nationals and I hope some of the residents can come and enjoy this event that will most likely bring in at least 300 bassets.  I will get a better number soon.

Here is the official site for the 2011 Basset Hound Club of America Nationals to be held in Northern, KY the first week of October. I live about 20 minutes from the site and I am beyond jazzed!

BHCH2011

I have subscribed to Bugler, the Basset Hound Magazine for about 20 years I think.  I love this magazine and I have all of my old copies. This is an online magazine.

Thank you Richie for helping House of Puddles!  The elders love you as well!

Well, I was certainly up with the birds and I got the worm!

Interestingly, Grandma and I just helped deliver a hound named Caterpillar to the House of Puddles a few weeks ago.  Maybe it was an omen!  Thanks Catmandoo – this one is for you!

House of Puddles has 2 new HoPpers!

July 23rd, 2011 - 11:11 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and House of Puddles Lovers!  May I please introduce to you the new HoPpers?

This is Sophie…..

Sophie-HOP-003

Herz is 11 years old and was a victim of a family breakup.  Jan, Joyce and Carol of Guardian Angel Basset Rescue worked hard on her behalf.  When Marilyn found out about her situation she agreed to make her a HopPer!  Jan fostered our Sophie until a transport was arranged and reports are she rules the roost from her beloved dog bed. Look howl pretty she is!

Sophie-HOP-008

Well, that transport took place today for her and her traveling companion, Caterpillar!

Today is the first time they met!

Here is darling Caterpillar and Lisa with his story!

CaterpillarMe

Well, I was calling himz Catmandoo!  He is so handsome.  This is himz with his foster Mommy Lisa.  She fell in love with this old guy.  I am not sure of his full story but I think he was pulled from an area pound and through networking found his way to Marilyn and House of Puddles.  Oh, he is really cute and loves attention.

Cat072211a

Turns out they were both coming from the same direction and the bassetabulous Jess’e Potts of Hound Haven Basset Rescue whipped up the transportation run sheet and I think it was filled in a few days.  Jess’e runs a tight ship and it was a well oiled machine today!

As soon as Marilyn sent me the run sheet I changed my plans and jumped on board.  Today was the big day and it was touch and go as to whether Grandma could come with me or not.  Thunderstorms started rolling thought bassethoundtown around 11:30 am and lasted until about 1:30pm.  Our leg of the transport was to leave at 3:55 pm.  It all worked out and we picked up our charges on time.

Isn’t this funny?  My camera was in my BHV, which was in the cool garage.  When I stepped outside to take this picture it was 109 heat index degrees.  The air was dripping wet!

IMG_3861

We wasted no time loading the kids after meeting Donna.  It was too hot to chit chat!

Here is a tiny section of Donna!  hehehe

IMG_3862

Off we go then!

Grandma and I made our 2 hour journey up to Columbus, OH right on schedule!

We met Susan and her pawsome neighbor!

Pawsome neighbor with Caterpillar….

IMG_3866

Susan loads Sophie in the front seat…

IMG_3871

And the new HoPpers are off to spend the night in Columbus. We were in the parking lot for less than 6 minutes.  Folks, when I say “well oiled machine”,  I mean well oiled machine.

They will start their final journey to House of Puddles tomorrow morning.

IMG_3873

Grandma and I traveled back home feeling great about helping 2 new HoPpers find a soft place to land.

On Sat night do you dance on the tables or lay on them?

January 15th, 2011 - 8:08 pm KY Time

Howllo Fellow Basset Hound and Saturday night lovers! I pick Cricket’s place! No dancing on the tables for me or Cricket!

Crickettablelaying

Cricket lives at the House of Puddles. I have a theory here. I think that Marilyn sits on the couch next to this table and Cricket is reserving her place in the VIP lounge! Marilyn, might have a bit of a challenge with that haunch area in her face if I am correct. LOL

Too cute!
